Connections
In our lives, we establish some incredible connections. I recently met someone that moved to our new town two weeks prior to us. We arranged a coffee date which at first took a while to get together and once we were there 2h30 later Morne was phoning and asking whether I was ok. “How long can a coffee date be?” were his words.
There are a few contributing factors. Do we need to be anywhere soon? How long are you able to hold each other present and actively listen to what is being said instead of listening to respond? How good is the coffee of course! You can establish rapport with someone quite quickly if you provide a trusting space.
Authentic connections are not based on what you do for a living. I think the last few minutes before departing we touched on this. Who you are is not determined by what you do. If only the younger Kamin could have believed this!
In the week ahead try and work on how you introduce yourself to others. Do you start with Hi, I am Kamin, I am a Business Development Consultant for LeadMe, Certified Neuroscience Coach, and Brand Manager for Single-Track? Or do you go Hi, I am Kamin an outdoor enthusiast living in Montagu with my husband?
You get the point I am trying to make. Consider how you introduce yourself to others and from that initial conversation what connection points you can establish.
