Gratitude
As our country plunges into darkness this week so does my mood. Emotional cognition is real. It is easy to feel the influence of others emotion on your wellbeing. Many of the Whatsapp groups we have joined in our new town have taken to sharing the “shedding schedule” and their 5 cents worth about how bad this situation is.
So before I continue to spiral down the rabbit hole of negativity today 1 July is a good day to shift gears. One of the easiest ways is practicing gratitude.
Do you have an “attitude of gratitude?” It’s not always easy to stay focused on the positive and beautiful things in our personal world. So much of our attention is driven to the negative through the media and amongst many in our social circle. Improve your “attitude of gratitude” through a daily practice of gratitude journaling.
The benefits of gratitude journaling are:
🙌 It increases positivity
When you take the time to focus on the good things in your life you naturally become more positive.
🙌 It improves self-esteem
Keeping a journal is a very personal activity and allows you to be present with your own achievements.
🙌 It helps you sleep better
Spending just 15 minutes before bed writing down a few grateful sentiments can help you have a much better night’s sleep.
🙌 It makes you happier
Showing gratitude means you are acknowledging the goodness in your life and by writing these things down you are able to feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences and build strong relationships.
🙌 It reduces stress
Grateful people take better care of themselves, meaning in the long run they live healthier lives and are therefore able to manager stress in a healthier way.
